Usually Dinosaur Parties are popular around the age of 3. In this case my 15 year old daughter wanted one, so here's some ideas and inspiration that can be used for any aged Dinosaur Party. I've added some geometrics which are on trend, but kept some of the classic dinosaur party decorations and traditional party games.
Dinosaur Cake or Volcano Cake:
I considered making a dinosaur cake, but opted for the Volcano Cake as I wanted to use it as the centrepiece. There were plans to make both, but as a busy working mum, that grand plan didn't come to fruition. We hire out an easy to make dinosaur tin, with step by step instructions if you prefer.
Dinosaur Party Food:
I had some much fun making the party food. Some of which I made a week ahead and others on the day. I kept it simple with a few "wow factor" items, like the Chocolate Dinosaur Eggs and Dinosaur Dessert. See more on our Dinosaur Party Food Blog.
Dinosaur Games and Activities:
Kids love to play party games and you can relate them to the Dinosaur theme, See our Dinosaur Games and Activities Blog.
Dinosaur Party Plan:
We love to celebrate birthdays. We all met at the train station, then caught the train to the Trampoline park (yes nothing to do with dinosaurs, but that was her choice), then caught the train back home for Pizza, drinks and Jurassic Park Movie. We followed this with a few games then party food and cake.
I find a simple plan and a few contingency plans are all you need. Think about the weather, what is age appropriate for the guests and what you can organise before the party to take the stress out of the day.
Dinosaur Party Decorations:
These balloons had to be my favourite decoration. I ordered them pre-inflated and got someone to pick them up from Build a Birthday's shop in Petone on the way to the party. If you aren't in Wellington you can always purchase them online and get them inflated elsewhere. I chose foil balloons as they last longer and look fantastic. Also I got great photos with the children and the balloons.
I teamed the balloons up with the Meri Meri Dinosaur banner.
The other main feature was the party table. Adding the geometric look, made it individual (not the standard production line party as I call it) and personalised to my daughters party.
I cut the tablerunner into strips and covered the fizzy drink bottles with a label. I also purchased cardboard pizza boxes and added a Herbivore and Carnivore sign to each pizza box.
Dinosaur Party Bags:
Often you can add items to the party bag that have come from the games and activities throughout the party, for example the contents of the pinata. Also think about what's age and gender appropriate. I find boys prefer action and activity items, so the Dinosaur slime or party balls are ideal. See our range of treats in our Dinosaur themed section or party bag filler section.
We hope you have a fun time creating your Dinosaur Party and re happy to help you pull it all together!
