Cool down with refreshing and delicious homemade ice blocks this summer! They are perfect to serve as a dessert or just to have as a tasty summer treat! We have two delicious flavours for you today - Lemonade and Watermelon, but you could make any flavour you desire!
Lemonade Ice blocks
Ingredients
- 3 cups of water
- 1 cup of sugar
- Zest from 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup of lemon juice
- Ice block mould
Method
- Add water, sugar and lemon zest to a small pot
- Bring to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar, then simmer for 5 minutes
- Remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice
- Strain the mixture through a sieve to remove the lemon zest and any potential pips
- Pour into ice block moulds and freeze - for a few hours, ideally overnight
- Once frozen pop out and enjoy!
Watermelon Ice blocks
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of caster sugar
- 500g watermelon
- Ice block mould
Method
- Add water, sugar and to a small pot
- Bring to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar, then simmer for 5 minutes
- Pure the watermelon in a blender
- Slowly add the sugar mix to the puree, testing as you go to get the right sweetness
- Pour into ice block moulds and freeze - for a few hours, ideally overnight
- Once frozen pop out and enjoy!
