Fairy Bread - the most popular party food!

Fairy Bread - the most popular party food!

Fairy bread is not only the most popular kids party food, it's also easy to make and reasonably inexpensive. This is great news for busy mums and dads that want to ensure their child has a fun party and don't have a lot of time to spare.

You may ask how do I know that fairy bread is the most popular kid's party food? I ran a kid's party venue for three years. Fairy bread was usually selected first and was the most popular party food. Yes for both boys and girls parties! We often heard the comment "wow look at the butterfly fairy bread".

Here's a few recipes to help you, including ideas for your themed party food.

Butterfly Fairybread

Butterfly Fairy bread

Ingredients:

  • A loaf of sandwich bread - I usually choose white bread, as it's light and easy to use.
  • HuHu Grub lollies - we've made it easy and sell these in a packet of 12
  • Hundreds and Thousands - see our range of sprinkles
  • Easy to spread margarine or butter - I recommend a spread like Olivani, as this means your fairy bread will be dairy free
  • Butterfly cookie cutter

Simple steps:

There are many ways to make fairy bread but this is my recommendation for the best outcome (even sprinkles).

  1. Butter your bread. Ensure there is a thin even spread of margarine or butter.
  2. Cut a butterfly shape out of each piece of bread
  3. Check to ensure there is butter/margarine on the entire piece. If not add a little.
  4. Place your HuHu Grub lolly in the middle of the cut out butterfly
  5. Using a large dinner plate add an even layer of hundreds and thousands or your chosen sprinkles onto the plate.
  6. Gently press the buttered side of the butterfly shaped bread onto the sprinkles (tip: do one wing at a time).
  7. Ensure that you have an even amount of sprinkles coating the bread. If not add a few more.
  8. Repeat step 5 to step 7 until you are finished.

Dinosaur Fairy bread

Fairy bread for other themes:

Princess Fairy bread

Use your creativity to match the fairy bread shape for your theme. Consider using a relevant shaped cookie cutter, the colour of your sprinkles and details you can add. For example you could make crowns for a princess party with lollies as the jewels.

Fairy Bread Sushi

If  you don't have a theme or it's for a adults party (yes they love fairy bread too), try making fairy bread sushi. You can also switch out the margarine or butter for Nutella or a chocolate spread.

Sushi Fairy BreadIngredients:

  • A loaf of white bread
  • Hundreds and Thousands - see our range of sprinkles
  • Easy to spread margarine or butter - I recommend a chocolate spread like Nutella

Simple steps:

  1. Butter your bread. Ensure there is a reasonably thick even spread of margarine or butter or chocolate spread.
  2. Roll the bread. If the bread is unrolling apply some more butter or chocolate spread.
  3. Using a sharp knife carefully cut the rolled bread into inch thick pieces.
  4. Using a large dinner plate add an even layer of hundreds and thousands or your chosen sprinkles onto the plate.
  5. Gently press the buttered side of the sushi shaped bread onto the sprinkles.
